Student Volunteer Army

When COVID-19 hit New Zealand, Erin was Chair of the Student Volunteer Army Foundation, after being one of the original founders in 2010 and having served on the Board in various roles.

However, facing disaster, she stepped into an operational role and we seconded the Narrative team to support the establishment of the SVA Grocery Delivery service; an end-to-end online shop, with deliveries by volunteers across the country. Narrative supported the communications & coordination of all messaging, including working with the Foodstuffs PR team, national media, the SVA social media channels and all copy across the board. There were over 3,000 volunteers signed up and hundreds of requests flooding in for support.

The response has been recognised by a number of accolades including as a finalist in the Sustainable Business Network Awards in three categories and being awarded the Minister of Health’s Volunteering Award for Youth Health Volunteer Team Award.
